Founder’s Statement
On this special day for both our nation and APANAMAE PRODUCTIONS, I am honored to welcome you to the beginning of a new chapter in our organization’s journey.
As a native of Houston, Texas, Juneteenth has always held deep personal meaning for me. Growing up, it was woven into the cultural fabric of community life—a time of celebration, reflection, education, and remembrance.
Today, we honor June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved African Americans were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth reminds us that freedom, justice, and human dignity are ideals that must continually be pursued and protected.
That spirit is at the heart of APANAMAE PRODUCTIONS. Our mission is to honor identity, culture, memory, and the voices that have too often been overlooked or underrepresented.
Through contemporary art, multimedia projects, and public programming, we seek to create a space where diverse experiences are celebrated, meaningful dialogue is encouraged, and human understanding can flourish.
At a moment when many communities feel unheard or unseen, APANAMAE PRODUCTIONS aspires to be an artistic refuge—a place where creativity builds bridges, where cultural exchange fosters connection, and where our shared humanity is recognized and valued.
